Traditional Bavarian shoes
The Bavarian shoes worn with lederhosen are referred to as „Haferlschuhe“, an expression derived from British tourists in the 19th century, who called these shoes “half shoes”. This expression was eventually adopted into the German language. These Bavarian shoes were initially used for hiking, which explains their extreme sturdiness and comfort. Characteristic for these shoes are the side tie lacing, the heavy sole profile and the sturdy leather they are manufactured of. |
