Traditional Bavarian hats
The traditional Bavarian head covering as part of the traditional dress finds its origins in attire worn by hunters. To shield their eyes from the blinding rays of the sun and to protect their heads from the rainy weather, hunters wore hats. Nowadays, the hats are made of loden cloth and are trimmed with cord. Many people decorate their hats with various accessories, like hat pins, feathers, a tuft of chamois hair, among other things. Thus, the hat has become an inseparable part of the traditional Bavarian attire. As with many other clothing articles, hats are most commonly kept in traditional colors, such as grey, black and green. |
